Energy agencies at a glance

energy agencies

Local and regional energy agencies (LAREAs) support the introduction of good energy management practices, advocate the concept of sustainability, provide information and guidance, and offer a number of other local services based on specific local energy needs.

The energy agencies are funded by public authorities. Most of them have been co-financed by the Intelligent Energy - Europe Programme, as well as the SAVE I and SAVE II Programmes. For more information, please see the historical background of the energy agencies.

In 2010, a review of energy agencies took place to evaluate the relevance of EU funding for local and regional energy agencies.
